Have you recently looked in your closet and thought: I need a new wardrobe? Then you’re due for a New York shopping trip. Whether it’s work clothes, casual, or cruise wear New York has a plethora of shops to meet everyone’s desires. The contrast of shopping for new clothes in beautiful, old buildings cannot be mimicked by any other city.

Macy’s– Macy’s Herald Square is unlike any other Macy’s in the U.S. because it is the flagship store, which resides in a building that is a National Historic Landmark. As stated on visitmacysusa.com, “Built in 1902, Macy’s Herald Square was the first building to have the modern-day escalator, and it has continued to be a trendsetter.” With 10.5 floors of both men’s and women’s clothing, purses, shoes, perfumes/colognes, furniture, and more one could spend the whole day exploring the entire store!

Barneys New York– There may be other Barneys stores in the US but there is only one original Barneys that started it all in the heart of New York City. This iconic store has roots tracing back to 1923, but they are looking to stay up with the trends of modern New York. Barneys is opening a new store at their original location. The new Barneys will offer collections that can only be found at that store for both men and women. Check out this interesting article from Vanity Fair about the store retuning to its original location.

Tiffany & Co.- Jewelry can add that touch of dazzle to each outfit, and no man knew this better than Charles Lewis Tiffany. The little blue box, the classic setting, the best selection of diamonds is what Tiffany’s is known for. This company has been on New York City’s radar since 1837 when the store first opened on 259 Broadway. You can be sure the flagship store on Fifth Ave. will not disappoint. Bergdorf Goodman- One must travel to New York City in order to shop at Bergdorf because New York is its sole location. This store has lost none of its charm throughout the years. It is amazing to think Andrew and Nena Goodman lived in an apartment above the store while running operations. The clothes and goods sold inside the store are hand selected; furthermore, this key attention to detail and design is present throughout the building as well.

Of course one can find clothes and jewelry anywhere in the world; however, there are only 4 fashion capitals Paris, Milan, London, and New York. Plan a New York shopping trip and come with empty bags because there is just too much to choose from.
